Selection

Each ASEAN Member State is represented by one ASEAN Biodiversity Hero. The ASEAN Biodiversity Heroes are nominated and endorsed by the ASEAN Working Group on Nature Conservation and Biodiversity and the Governing Board of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity. 

In nominating an individual, the following are considered:

• Relevance of the nominees’ contributions to biodiversity conservation
• Impact of these contributions to biodiversity conservation efforts in their respective countries and the region
• Replicability of their actions recognition they received in communities where they belong
