Meet the 2022 ASEAN Biodiversity Heroes

Not all superheroes have super powers and wear capes. Some just go about their daily routine of conserving the web of life.

They are local government leaders who have successfully adopted and implemented biodiversity action plans. They are conservation workers who have implemented significant conservation initiatives to bring together the traditional knowledge of indigenous and local communities and modern science. They are media practitioners who help bridge the communication gap between biodiversity experts and the general public. They are scientists whose research led to the identification of new species. They are biodiversity advocates whose conservation projects have resulted in positive change in communities. They are youth leaders who are engaging fellow youth in performing simple but significant conservation activities.

They are people like us who have a huge stake in the battle against biodiversity loss.

On its 50th anniversary, ASEAN will celebrate the efforts of 10 men and women from the region who are taking action to ensure that future generations will continue to benefit from the products and services provided by the web of life.
